About the guide:
Wesley Couronne known as Wes, founded Wes Aventure Randonnées in 2019 which started to gain its popularity in 2020.
Wes, resident of Vacoas, is a nature lover since his childhood where he started hiking with his sister at the age of 12.
In search of new adventures and discoveries, he has been discovering different region of the island with his family and friends every weekend.
In 2016 had a training of survival in the woods in Reunion Island where he reinforces his knowledge.
He expertise in the field regarding safety fundamentals and has certification in first aid for hikers.
The idea of the business grew from his passion and love for nature.
Wes Aventure Randonnees proposes a number of activities such as River Trekking/Mountain hikes & Caves Exploration and is always ready in accompanying you during your vacation.
Beaux – Songes Waterfalls (Beau-Songes) Leaving the normal routes and take the river trekking you will be mesmerized by the hidden waterfalls of Beau-Songes.
Locally known as Cascade Kaya, the track is very easy for beginners but if you are scared to wet your shoes, this is not for you.
By crossing rivers, you will be able to enjoy a good time by the waterfall.
It is not recommended to choose this track on a rainy day as the rocks can be slippery.
La Mecque – Bassin vert (Bambous) If you want to have a coaster hike which is very easy, this track is recommended.
Walking from Médine across the sugar plantation to reach a forest and finally land to Bassin Vert.
It’s a very relaxing hike and on the way you can find 2 beautiful caves which can be explored.
A few kilometers from the caves you’ll reach the cliff and a green pond (Bassin Vert).
During rainy seasons you can witness a beautiful waterfall from the cliff.Local people enjoy their day by jumping from top of the cliff into the water for fun.
This activity is recommended to regular divers.
Rochester Falls (Souillac)
A hike to Rochester falls is a must if you are a waterfall lover.
The path to the mesmerizing waterfalls is not difficult.
If you are travelling to Mauritius, this kind of view is a must and the place is perfect for a picnic.
It is not recommended to go there during heavy rainfall because of the force of powerful water.
There are two ways to access the waterfalls.
One is to be on the top of the waterfall and the other is to take the stoned track to reach the waterfall.
Sept Cascades/Tamarind Falls (Half & full track) (Henrietta)
Tamarind Falls commonly known as sept cascades is an amazing track for nature lovers which is very famous for its splendid waterfalls.
The Full track is very challenging and sometimes can be steep and extremely slippery especially during rainy seasons which will lead you to 7 waterfalls.
If you are a beginner, then it is recommended to take half of the track (4 Waterfall).
Eureka Waterfalls – (Moka)
Something not to miss.
The 4 waterfalls of Eureka are just amazing.
Surrounded by greenery the place is just perfect for a picnic especially with kids. Another special idea for a birthday surprise. If you are a beginner this one is recommended.
Le Pouce (Petit Verger)
Le Pouce is the third highest mountain in Mauritius which form part of the Moka Ranges.
The mountain received its name because it takes the form of the thumb peak shaped.
Le Pouce is very popular for hiking and is considered to be an easy hike.
From the summit you will be able to catch view of the Pieter Both mountain and all-round the village of Moka.
La Tourelle du Tamarin (Black River)
A hike not to miss in Mauritius.T
he mountain is of 552m and gives the best views of the whole western region.The peak towering over Tamarin provides stunning views of Black River Gorges, Le Morne Brabant, and the lagoon.
The hike to the summit follows a wellworn trail and is quite challenging.
Even though it is exposed to the sun for much of the way, lovers of discovery will enjoy this trip.
Le Morne Brabant (Le Morne village)
Le Morne Cultural Landscape is an exceptional testimony to maroonage or resistance to slavery in Mauritius.The mountain was used as a fortress to shelter escaped slaves based in physical and oral facts.
Le Morne represents maroonage and its impact, which existed in many places around the world, but which was demonstrated so effectively on Le Morne mountain.
The mountain is a symbol of slaves’ fight for freedom, their suffering, and their sacrifice, all of which have relevance beyond its geographical location, to the countries from which the slaves came in particular the African mainland, Madagascar, India, and Southeast Asia- and represented by the Creole people of Mauritius and their shared memories and oral traditions.Hiking to the top of le Morne Brabant will give you a spectacular view of the southwestern corner of the island.
Les Trois Mamelles (Vacoas)
This mountain is a different chain in the west of Mauritius whose three peaks are around 600 m.The ascent of the central peak is done in free hand, in two distinct parts: first by a path which goes up in a bushy undergrowth, which ends at the collar of the window.
The view over the Yemen plain is magnificent, superb yellowed by the scorching sun of the region.
The second part is more exposed and a bit demanding.
The drop offs on the eastern and western slopes of the rock are now impressive. Every now and then the adrenaline rushes kick in as the top gets closer.
The top will give you a panoramic view in all its splendor is the guaranteed reward of this well-deserved climb.
Piton de la Petite Rivière Noires (Black River)
If you are looking for the best nature adventure, hiking Piton de la Petite Riviere Noires will give you breathtaking experience.
The mountain is the highest peak on the island of Mauritius.
Located in Black River district, its height is of 828 m and gives you breathtaking scenery of the rugged mountain views.
You will begin your trail underneath a shady pathway and pass through the savage green of the gorges.
Following this part, it will be a little bit demanding and can sometimes slippery.
The last climb can be short but is intense.
This will take you to the summit of the mountain where you will get the unique view.
When reaching the top of the mountain you will find the famous bench 828.
The Lion Mountain (Vieux Grand Port)
You cannot miss Lion mountain when you are in the south east of Mauritius.
From Mahebourg, it is the mountain that is right across the bay, the only witness left of the ‘Bataille of Vieux Grand Port’ that took place some 200 years ago.
Lion Mountain is a prominent mountain in the Bambous Range, visible from Mahebourg and notable for have an abundance of native vegetation and stunning views of the southeast.
The Mountain bears its name since it takes the form of a lion.
From the top you will be able to see the surrounding islands: Ile aux Aigrettes, Ile de la Passe, Ilot Vacoas and Ile aux Fouquets, where the lighthouse is situated.
The Caves of Roche Noires (Riviere du Rempart)
If you have a curious and exploring mindset, you should not miss the 7 caves of Roche Noires.
Roche noires is a small village found in the North East of Mauritius a few kilometres from bras d’eau forest.
Roche Noires lava tubes caves are of volcanic origin.
According to history, these caves served as a habitat for the slaves in the colonial era.
There are many interconnected lava tubes that appear on the surface as caves or freshwater springs.
These lava tubes are a unique and amazing place to explore as they contain flowing water in places, complex sculpted rock formations, and many small offshoots and rooms to explore. In this place, you can find cool air, solitude, and complete darkness on any given day.
This unique and amazing place will make you discover rock formations from small to large caves.
